Ownership and Effectiveness of China’s Aid Projects in Africa

The notion of ‘ownership’ has occupied a central place in measuring the effectiveness North–South cooperation. How is it represented South–South cooperation (SSC) and how does affect SSC? There no clear answer existing literature. In this article, we describe representation SSC explain affected process impact projects using case studies three uniformly designed Chinese agricultural aid Mozambique, Tanzania, Ethiopia. Based on long-term participatory observation in-depth interviews, find that differently from project design to implementation. Divergence ambiguity exist among different stakeholders operation ‘ownership’. ‘Co-ownership’ two partners at local level contributes while ‘de-ownership’ ‘forced ownership’ have negative survival sustainable development projects.
